Week Three Snow

 January 15, 2022

As I write this we in North Carolina are expecting a major winter system to move in and dump HOPEFULLY snow and very little ice. If it is just snow we should be fine but if ice is involved we are looking at possible power outages. I hate to say this but I might be to blame for this. How you may ask well in my daily conversation with the  Creator on Monday I was talking with Him as to IF there was going to be no snow maybe our weather could warm up a bit (I usually have my conversations with Him on the bus, don't worry I pray with my eyes open...) it was COLD this particular morning. Later that afternoon I was checking my weather app and low and behold the SNOW signage popped up for this weekend about a 75% chance. Throughout the week the percentages never went below that, in fact, they increased to where the likelihood of a snow/ice event was hovering near 100%.

I know that the snow issue seems silly to those who deal with it on a more frequent basis but we are dealing with measurable snow here and that doesn't happen too often anymore around here. The old-timers fondly recollect about how they used to have snow every winter and many of them actually walked to school in it and someway they had relatives where they stayed further up the hill. Somehow snow must bring out he toast and cereal crowd around here because of the shortages of bread and milk in all of the grocery stores. Here is what will probably happen however, Sunday and probably Monday will have a lot of churches and businesses closed. The snow will begin a gradual melt sometime Monday and refreeze and become the dreaded black ice on Tuesday prompting schools to plan a remote learning day and possibly Wednesday. Once the road crew (BOTH trucks) make their way across the county we will go back to work on Thursday just in time for another yet smaller winter event to happen Thursday into Friday.

Now, what else has been going on? I got my labs done on Thursday after canceling them last Thursday.(read Week Two) I have my follow up scheduled for Monday but we can probably guess that won't happen. Also that day I had to get a Covid test (negative) because my classroom had a positive case reported. The timing was pretty funny however, somebody had pointed out that our class was the only class not to be quarantined. I just started in this class recently and I joked that oh great I will be blamed if we are. Little did I know it would be so soon.

My verse of the week comes to us from. Romans 5:8 but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. He took on our sin and He took the lashes and nails and tomb and LIVES today to SAVE us. Have a wonderful and safe week...
