Week Nine

 February 26, 2022

Today would have been my father's 104th birthday. Ironically I am going to be going to a visitation for a mom of a friend and a celebration of life for a little girl who left this world at four. Both are enjoying being with Jesus and doing things that could not be done here on Earth by the frailties that hindered them both. One who had limits here whole life and one who had the limits that age puts upon us if we are blessed to reach that age.

I do not want this to be sad but it is hard to think of things other than this when in a week I know of the two mentioned above and a sweet girl who went to meet Jesus and her sister who preceded her. Her family is planning a celebration of life in mid-March. The most positive thing I can say is that my faith tells me that one day we will all meet in heaven.  It just makes you hug your love ones a bit longer and remind them that they are loved daily and not cry over the small things. 

For those of you who do not know, I have the privilege of being the father of three children, two are away at college and the other is here with us. Our youngest has a rare brain disorder called Lysencephaly (excuse me for the spelling). If you can picture a "normal" brain it has peaks and valleys all over. If you picture Wyatt's brain it has less peaks and valleys and it causes seizures and developmental delays. Most seventeen year olds are looking at colleges or making plans for after high school where Wyatt is watching Elmo and praising "Dee-Das" that is Wyatt's version of Jesus. He has the chronological age of 17 but the developmental age of three or four. It is not that he doesn't learn but he doesn't learn what society thinks is important. However, you only need to spend some time with my little buddy and you learn more than you ever could sitting in a classroom about life or sitting in a pew learning about Jesus. He knows that he'd rather be at Walt Disney World and that Jesus is ALIVE. Luke 24:5 ...Why do you seek the living among the dead? Have a great week!

Trip Review

 As I promised in my last post today would be about the recent trip the family took to Walt Disney World. I can truly say it was unlike any other trip to WDW I have ever took.  First off it only was the three of us (Jule, Wyatt and myself) while my daughter took care of the animals and my other son was staying at his apartment. We stayed at a new resort for us, Pop Century. For the three of us it was perfect, except that Wyatt fell out of the bed and cut his eye. I liked the access to the Skyliner which we took to EPCOT on our second day of the trip. We hit all four parks plus Disney Springs on our first night and last day. We ate at Paradiso 37, had dessert at the Salt and Straw, we also ate at The Plaza, Sleepy Hollow and the Boathouse. As for attractions we experienced the new Remy's ride along with Soarin' , Spaceship Earth, and Living With the Land at EPCOT. We also listened to the Voices of America and watched Harmonious. Week Five

 January 29, 2022 I didn't get my goal done for this week but I promise I will get back to recording about Disney before I take our next trip to Walt Disney World which I booked this past week. I won't bore you with details quite yet but we are staying at a new to us resort.  Jule celebrated another birthday this past Wednesday (the day I booked the trip, which was her gift from me). She is truthfully my best friend! I was reminded about one of my favorite verses which I used to refer to on my board at school Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, BUT fools despise wisdom and instruction...  I sit here watching my son waking up from a nap and I am reminded of that love the Father has for us. He has unconditional love for us, He has given us so much more than we can ever pay back and all He asks from us is to love Him back.

Week 10

 March 6, 2022 I am writing this on a Sunday instead of a Saturday because it is that time of the year where my Saturdays are as busy as my Sundays. We are having rehearsals on Saturday mornings except last week and next week and the weekends of the performances which end on Palm Sunday which is April 10th this year. I said we have two weekends off however last weekend I was a pall bearer at a funeral and next weekend the Deacons are cooking over 800 hamburgers for a "Feed The City" event our church does quarterly.  I have done some time contemplating retirement this past week. To be honest with you I contemplate it a lot. I figure that I have until I am 59 in which I will retire from public school and then begin another chapter in my vocational life. I am pondering a travel agent job which specializes in trips to Disney destinations. I plan on doing a new podcast starting this summer "solo." It will be another Disney centric podcast with an emphasis on Walt Disney
