Week Nine

February 26, 2022 Today would have been my father's 104th birthday. Ironically I am going to be going to a visitation for a mom of a friend and a celebration of life for a little girl who left this world at four. Both are enjoying being with Jesus and doing things that could not be done here on Earth by the frailties that hindered them both. One who had limits here whole life and one who had the limits that age puts upon us if we are blessed to reach that age. I do not want this to be sad but it is hard to think of things other than this when in a week I know of the two mentioned above and a sweet girl who went to meet Jesus and her sister who preceded her. Her family is planning a celebration of life in mid-March. The most positive thing I can say is that my faith tells me that one day we will all meet in heaven.  It just makes you hug your love ones a bit longer and remind them that they are loved daily and not cry over the small things.  For those of you who do not kn...

Week Eight

Tuesday February 22, 2022 I apologize that this is a bit late but I am actually going to use this platform to rant right now. I work at a public school for Exceptional Children (EC). We deal with students that are fragile. They have immune problems, seizures, and many are on severe ends of the autistic spectrum. Some of our students are confined to wheelchairs or walk with assistance. It is imperative that these students are protected from contagious diseases NOT JUST COVID.  A negative Covid test is not a clean bill of health. It just eliminates one potential reason your child is hacking up phlegm and or coughing like a two pack a day smoker with a temp approaching 100 but not quite making it. Twenty four hours fever free is our policy which means you are not supposed to send your child back to school if they have run a fever within the last twenty three hours and fifty nine minute WITHOUT the aid of medicine. However, it happens even in our school when as I pointed out it c...

Week Seven

February 12, 2022 On this Saturday where my it was just me and my youngest, Wyatt, we went to the Easter Celebration meeting and walked in the mall (about five miles) and enjoyed some Chic fil A. We also watched some old school WWE on Peacock.  The week itself was pretty normal or as normal as it gets for this time in our history. Two classrooms went on quarantine including Wyatt's and we had a day off Monday due to ice. Well,  actually it started out as just a delay but eventually ended up becoming a day off for students. Staff had to report though. I woke up muttering to myself that I wish we had a three hour delay when I looked at my phone that was just what it said we had. So each day this past week I began waking up muttering I wish I had a million dollars, so far it hasn't worked.  Friday was an already scheduled workday as is Monday so that means a three day week this past week for students and a four day next week for students.  Tomorrow (February 13, 2...

Week Six

February 5, 2022 Where did January go? Monday of this week marked the final day of the first month of this year (2022). We have "celebrated" Groundhog's Day on the sunniest day of the week making it a certainty that the rodent meteorologist would see its shadow and six more weeks of winter are in store for us. However, the weather has been more and more Springish than it had been before.  At church we are gearing up for our annual Easter Celebration. Rehearsals begin next Saturday and it will be good to get back to it since we've had to cancel the show the last two years due to Covid restrictions. It is not 100% certain that we will still be able to do it this year BUT we are preparing for the possibility.  I will begin to talk more Disney in the following weeks (actually I might update my Main Street Memories blog instead) but we are booked for Animal Kingdom Lodge in April. It will be a short trip to WDW for the three of us (Nick and Corri will not be with us) agai...

Week Five

January 29, 2022 I didn't get my goal done for this week but I promise I will get back to recording about Disney before I take our next trip to Walt Disney World which I booked this past week. I won't bore you with details quite yet but we are staying at a new to us resort.  Jule celebrated another birthday this past Wednesday (the day I booked the trip, which was her gift from me). She is truthfully my best friend! I was reminded about one of my favorite verses which I used to refer to on my board at school Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, BUT fools despise wisdom and instruction...  I sit here watching my son waking up from a nap and I am reminded of that love the Father has for us. He has unconditional love for us, He has given us so much more than we can ever pay back and all He asks from us is to love Him back.

Week Four

January 22, 2022 Since the last time I wrote the area has been blanketed with snow and we pretty much shut down fully for a few days and as as for school/work the whole week. There were no church services last Sunday except for a FaceTime message from our pastor. So what does that mean for the upcoming week? I am not sure except to say I am ready for a bit more normal.  I am getting ready to return to the podcast (Main Street Memories) soon. It started out almost a year ago as a father/daughter joint venture and we recorded and posted fifteen episodes for season one before my daughter headed to SCAD this past fall and we have not begun season two as we had planned to do. When she was home for the holidays we agreed that I would record new episodes and she would post them. So this weekend I will prepare and possibly record episode sixteen of  the show. Be prepared to download it on your favorite podcast server (Apple, Spotify etc...) If you haven't done so before you can ...

Week Three Snow

January 15, 2022 As I write this we in North Carolina are expecting a major winter system to move in and dump HOPEFULLY snow and very little ice. If it is just snow we should be fine but if ice is involved we are looking at possible power outages. I hate to say this but I might be to blame for this. How you may ask well in my daily conversation with the  Creator on Monday I was talking with Him as to IF there was going to be no snow maybe our weather could warm up a bit (I usually have my conversations with Him on the bus, don't worry I pray with my eyes open...) it was COLD this particular morning. Later that afternoon I was checking my weather app and low and behold the SNOW signage popped up for this weekend about a 75% chance. Throughout the week the percentages never went below that, in fact, they increased to where the likelihood of a snow/ice event was hovering near 100%.  I know that the snow issue seems silly to those who deal with it on a more frequent basis bu...
