Trip Review

Image
As I promised in my last post today would be about the recent trip the family took to Walt Disney World. I can truly say it was unlike any other trip to WDW I have ever took.  First off it only was the three of us (Jule, Wyatt and myself) while my daughter took care of the animals and my other son was staying at his apartment. We stayed at a new resort for us, Pop Century. For the three of us it was perfect, except that Wyatt fell out of the bed and cut his eye. I liked the access to the Skyliner which we took to EPCOT on our second day of the trip. We hit all four parks plus Disney Springs on our first night and last day. We ate at Paradiso 37, had dessert at the Salt and Straw, we also ate at The Plaza, Sleepy Hollow and the Boathouse. As for attractions we experienced the new Remy's ride along with Soarin' , Spaceship Earth, and Living With the Land at EPCOT. We also listened to the Voices of America and watched Harmonious. At the Magic Kingdom we hit Splash Mountain, Haunt

Rehearsal for Retirement

It may come to a surprise to some of you that know me I am getting close to my retirement. In one or two years I probably will make that decision. However, I am currently "rehearsing" for retirement in our vacation home in Florida. We will be spending a good portion of June in our house/home. We have been here since Thursday after spending some time with our daughter and dropping our oldest back at his apartment.  So far we have been looking for furniture, searching for a church, enjoying local cuisine and relaxing before we take a trip to WDW for Father's Day weekend. Of course that will be my summer hi lite but I must admit relaxing in Florida with no distractions is pretty nice. Yesterday we went to a park with a couple walking trails in which I got in my steps as if I was on a normal day at WDW over 20,000 steps later I can say I was pooped. However, I spotted wild life such as deer, wild turkeys, and birds of all kind. Plus the scenery was beautiful. The only downfa

Week Eleven and Three Quarters...

Thursday March 17, 2022 Happy St. Patrick's Day! Well since I last written I have paid a traffic ticket, gotten finger-printed, and paid off a WDW trip coming up in April. I won't go into too much detail about those things. What I will be going into though is what we have been doing at our church and my sudden thrust back into photography. Our church as you may know is getting ready for the return of our annual Easter Celebration that had been put on hold for the last two years because of the pandemic. We had an off week from rehearsal this past Saturday and the deacons held a Feed the City event in which we fed over 400 meals to people and passed out bibles and literature about our church.  My sudden return to the art of photography was kind of brought on by my daughter and a You Tube video. My daughter called from school (Savannah College of Art and Design) and told mom that a friend of hers who happens to be a photography major really liked my photos of my daughter and was

Week 10

March 6, 2022 I am writing this on a Sunday instead of a Saturday because it is that time of the year where my Saturdays are as busy as my Sundays. We are having rehearsals on Saturday mornings except last week and next week and the weekends of the performances which end on Palm Sunday which is April 10th this year. I said we have two weekends off however last weekend I was a pall bearer at a funeral and next weekend the Deacons are cooking over 800 hamburgers for a "Feed The City" event our church does quarterly.  I have done some time contemplating retirement this past week. To be honest with you I contemplate it a lot. I figure that I have until I am 59 in which I will retire from public school and then begin another chapter in my vocational life. I am pondering a travel agent job which specializes in trips to Disney destinations. I plan on doing a new podcast starting this summer "solo." It will be another Disney centric podcast with an emphasis on Walt Disney

Week Nine

February 26, 2022 Today would have been my father's 104th birthday. Ironically I am going to be going to a visitation for a mom of a friend and a celebration of life for a little girl who left this world at four. Both are enjoying being with Jesus and doing things that could not be done here on Earth by the frailties that hindered them both. One who had limits here whole life and one who had the limits that age puts upon us if we are blessed to reach that age. I do not want this to be sad but it is hard to think of things other than this when in a week I know of the two mentioned above and a sweet girl who went to meet Jesus and her sister who preceded her. Her family is planning a celebration of life in mid-March. The most positive thing I can say is that my faith tells me that one day we will all meet in heaven.  It just makes you hug your love ones a bit longer and remind them that they are loved daily and not cry over the small things.  For those of you who do not know, I have

Week Eight

Tuesday February 22, 2022 I apologize that this is a bit late but I am actually going to use this platform to rant right now. I work at a public school for Exceptional Children (EC). We deal with students that are fragile. They have immune problems, seizures, and many are on severe ends of the autistic spectrum. Some of our students are confined to wheelchairs or walk with assistance. It is imperative that these students are protected from contagious diseases NOT JUST COVID.  A negative Covid test is not a clean bill of health. It just eliminates one potential reason your child is hacking up phlegm and or coughing like a two pack a day smoker with a temp approaching 100 but not quite making it. Twenty four hours fever free is our policy which means you are not supposed to send your child back to school if they have run a fever within the last twenty three hours and fifty nine minute WITHOUT the aid of medicine. However, it happens even in our school when as I pointed out it could be m

Week Seven

February 12, 2022 On this Saturday where my it was just me and my youngest, Wyatt, we went to the Easter Celebration meeting and walked in the mall (about five miles) and enjoyed some Chic fil A. We also watched some old school WWE on Peacock.  The week itself was pretty normal or as normal as it gets for this time in our history. Two classrooms went on quarantine including Wyatt's and we had a day off Monday due to ice. Well,  actually it started out as just a delay but eventually ended up becoming a day off for students. Staff had to report though. I woke up muttering to myself that I wish we had a three hour delay when I looked at my phone that was just what it said we had. So each day this past week I began waking up muttering I wish I had a million dollars, so far it hasn't worked.  Friday was an already scheduled workday as is Monday so that means a three day week this past week for students and a four day next week for students.  Tomorrow (February 13, 2022) is Super Bo
